[5 words in Greek] Ho arisa gnous arisa theraōenei [?]" [i.e. the French physician, Hellenist and bibliophile Jacques Poirier de la Ramée (d. 1718); born at Amboise, qualified at Montpellier 1679 or 1680, practised at Tours and became court physician to Louis XV, died at Paris in 1718. His library was sold in London in 1727]. Manuscript inscription on vol. 9 title page: "Jbus du Poirier Turonensis = Ambasianus doct. med Turonis 1682. [6 words in Greek] Hē diagnōsis pēdalion tusiaseōs achex. Tra... [?]" [i.e. Jacques Poirier de la Ramée (d. 1718)]. Binding: seventeenth-century full mottled calf; gilt roll pattern on board edges; gold-tooled spines, with stamp, roll and fillet decoration; gilt title and vol. number lettered directly onto spines. Red and brown sprinkled edges.
