This set of 12 volumes was moved to Blickling Hall in 1832 from Newbattle Abbey, the principal Scottish seat of the Marquesses of Lothian. Early armorial bookplate (Franks 17069 or *558) on verso of front fly-leaf facing title page: 'The Most Honble. William Marquiss of Lothian' [i.e. William Kerr, 2nd Marquess of Lothian (1661-1722)]. Binding: seventeenth-century full calf (rubbed, very worn); sewn on six supports; gilt double fillet border, with dashed roll pattern between the fillets in the corners; seven panels on spine, five with gilt fillet panel with gilt stamp in the centre, one panel with gilt title 'Aldrovandi Hist. nat.' on brown calf label, and one panel with gilt vol. number 'Vol. I.' on gold-tooled brown calf label. Spine repaired at head and foot in calf. Red edges.
