Provenance: small oval armorial bookplate (not listed in Franks) in both vols.: anonymous, arms of Harbord impaling Hobart and Drury, with motto "Aequanimiter" [i.e. arms of William Assheton Harbord, 2nd Lord Suffield (1766-1821) and his wife Caroline Hans Harbord, Lady Suffield (1767-1850), daughter of John Hobart, 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire; they married in 1792]. Binding: eighteenth-century full tree calf; gilt single fillet border; gilt roll pattern on board edges; recessed cords; gold-tooled spines, with floral and spiral stamps and roll pattern decoration; gilt title on red morocco label and gilt vol. number on green morocco label on spines. Burnished edges. Green marbled endpapers.
