Provenance: Eighteenth-century armorial bookplate, lettered "Robert Lovett Esqr, Liscombe Comm. Bucks" [Franks 18764]. [Not indigenous?]. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf, single gilt fillet forming a border, gilt tooling on board edges. Sewn on two cords, four raised bands (two false). Gilt tooled with Lovett's crest of a wolf passant on boards and spine. Red leather spine label, lettered in gilt "Lillys Life". Marbled endpapers, edges sprinkled red. Lower board damaged with cuts; worm damage in text block.
