Provenance: manuscript initial letter and inscription on front fly-leaf: "D" and "Ryalton" [i.e. probably either Francis Godolphin, 2nd Earl of Godolphin (1678-1766) or his son William Godolphin, Marquess of Blandford (1700-1731), both of whom held the courtesy title of Viscount Rialton. A number of their books are present in the library at Blickling Hall]. Binding: late seventeenth- or eighteenth-century mottled calf; gilt single fillet border with small gilt fleur-de-lys cornerpiece stamps; small gilt lozenge-shaped centrepiece stamp; gilt spine with stamp, fillet and roll tooling; gilt title stamped directly onto spine. Blue mottled edges.
