Manuscript inscription on title page: "Nicolas Stoughton Exon Coll. 1658" [i.e. Sir Nicholas Stoughton (d. 1686) of Exeter College, Oxford, matric. 21 July, 1653; of Stoughton, Surrey, baptised 8 Feb. 1634-5, created a baronet 29 Jan. 1660, married in 1662 Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Henry Massingberd of Bratoft Hall, Lincolnshire [in fact of Gunby Hall] -- cf. Alumni Oxonienses]. Binding: eighteenth-century mottled calf; gilt roll pattern on board edges; gilt spine with stamp, fillet and roll tooling; gilt title on brown goatskin label on spine. Pale blue stained edges.
