Folded sheet of paper inserted between p. 1060-1061, containing manuscript notes in Greek on Lucian's De Syria dea; signed "Maittaire" on the reverse in the hand of Sir Richard Ellys [i.e. the notes were written by Michael Maittaire (1667-1747), the Huguenot bibliographer, who was a close friend of Sir Richard Ellys the owner of this book]. Provenance: manuscript old shelfmark: "B.6.4". Manuscript number (price?) on front pastedown: "21. 10". Manuscript book number on front fly-leaf: "(76)". Manuscript inscriptions on front fly-leaf: "Sum Iacobi Aubery" [i.e. Jacques Aubery] and "Christiane". Manuscript inscription on title page: "Christiane". Occasional manuscript marginal annotations in red pencil, e.g. pp. 1062, 1064. Binding: seventeenth-century calf (scratched and worn); double gilt fillet border. Rebacked and repaired in sheepskin. Red sprinkled edges.
