Count Loménie de Brienne's library was sold in London in 1724, where Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) undoubtedly purchased it. Book number label on front pastedown: 'Z' [printed in red ink] / "4" [in manuscript black ink]. Binding: seventeenth-century mottled calf; double and single gilt fillet border; gilt armorial centrepiece stamp (with mermaid crest): arms of Louis-Henri de Lomenie, comte de Brienne (1635-1698); gold-tooled spine, with repeated monogram of the comte de Brienne and title lettered directly onto the spine. Brown sprinkled edges.
