With a leaf of seventeenth-century notes laid in, beginning “to send my father some lozenges and ye receipt to make them, to send my father a light coate wescoate & britches to send my mother a little mortar and pestall, to speake to doctor Hepburn of my fathers paine in his bowels and of his cough …”. Provenance: inscribed “H.B.” [i.e. Henry Bedingfeld] on titlepage. Round armorial seal, lettered Sir Henry Bedingfeld of Oxburgh Bart. Binding: seventeenth-century calf sewn onto four raised bands; double blind fillets, additional lines vertical to spine; manuscript on paper spine label “[H]istory of Scotland”. Red-stained edges.
