Provenance: armorial bookplate, anonymous: arms of John Hobart, 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire (1723-1793) and his second wife Caroline Conolly (ca. 1755-1817, m. 1770), with Buck and Talbot supporters, and earl's coronet (not in Franks). Binding: eighteenth-century blind-panelled reverse calf; the outer border consists of double fillets and an insect and snail roll pattern, the single panel consists of double fillets and two roll patterns (the insect and snail roll and a floral roll). Insect and snail blind roll pattern on board edges. Gilt title label on spine. Red sprinkled edges.
