Manuscript former shelfmarks on front fly-leaf: "K [or L].1.11" [crossed-out] and "b.1.11". Probably originally from the great library at Newbattle Abbey, the Lothians’ principal Scottish seat. Binding: seventeenth-century calf; double gilt fillet border and panel, mitred together at the corners by double gilt fillets; single gilt fillet on board edges. Recessed cords. Double gilt fillet panel running vertically along spine with remnants of gilt title, overlaid with gilt title label. Blue stained edges.
