Provenance: Contemporary inscription in ink on first leaf begins: `Sum ex Libris Gu: ...' but surname has been cut out. Illegible words follow, then: `Oxon. praet. 8s.6d. 1669'. On reverse of first leaf is 19th century inscription in ink: `J.R. Baker'. (Modern) price in pencil on flyleaf: `7/6'. Loose at p. 49 is invitation to general meeting of the Great Western Railway, 1900, and at p. 383 an invoice to J.R. Baker for this book (cost 5/- plus 6d. postage) from Andrew Iredale, bookseller, Torquay, 23 Oct. 1888. Binding: Full brown plain calf, double fillet borders with blind stamps in corners, raised bands, and gold lettering on red spine label.
