Binding: seventeenth-century panelled calf; double gilt fillet and blind fillet border, mitred at the corners to central panel of double gilt fillets and blind fillets; centrepiece wreath stamp. Gilt roll pattern on board edges. Seven raised bands. Gold-tooled spine, with gilt arabesque stamps in panels and gilt fillets along raised bands. Pair of holes in boards for ties (missing). Manuscript pencil note on front pastedown: "Repaired at Cambridge 1955".
