Provenance: nineteenth-century round seal bookplate: "Thomae Bowater Vernon Arma" [i.e. Thomas Bowater Vernon (1832-1859)]. Endpaper inscribed: IM. 1721 / John Mack[?] 1722. Dedication inscribed: Stansall. Faint inscription on verso of plate leaf unread. Binding: seventeenth-century calf; six raised bands; gold tooled spine and board edges; marbled text-block edge; gold lettered spine label: Chavcer Works.
