Provenance: Eighteenth-century Chippendale armorial bookplate, lettered: "The Rt Honble Lady Caroline Harpur" [i.e. Caroline Harpur nee Manners (d. 1769), wife of Henry Harpur 5th Baronet (1708-1748)]. With biographical information underneath: "D. of John 2d Duke of Rutland. She m. 2dly Sir Robert Burdett Baron Dat.[?] Formark B.[sic] at Calke 1769". Binding: Eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf, sewn on three cords, five raised bands. Blind-tooled panel stamp on covers, gilt tooling on spine, lettered direct on spine in blind (possibly originally covered by spine label): "Puffendorfs introduction". Spine damaged and boards loose.
