Provenance: manuscript initial "M." on front fly-leaf [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Slip of paper used as a bookmark inserted between pp. 244-245, with partial manuscript inscription: "... 19 1781 Rec[eive]d. of ..."; slip of paper used as a bookmark inserted between pp. 274-275, with partial manuscript inscriptions on both sides: "March ... by the ...", and "Tenants lune[? or lime] Postle R. Lound S. Part S.". Binding: eighteenth-century red morocco, gold-tooled to a Cambridge style panel design; panels formed by double fillets and roll patterns, with cornerpiece and decorative side stamps; gilt roll pattern on board edges and turn-ins; gold-tooled spine, with gilt title on green morocco label. All edges gilt, partially gauffered. Marbled endpapers.
