Badeley. fecit 1904' [i.e. Thomas Wodehouse, 2nd Lord Newton (1857-1942)] (cf. Wilson & Lee ‘Badeley’ no. 119). Printed shelfmark label beneath bookplate: Case "M" [in MS.] Shelf "6" [i.e. a Lyme Park book]. Manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf: "For Mr. Legh" [presumably either Peter Legh XII (1669-1744) or his nephew Peter Legh XIII (1708-1792)]. Binding: eighteenth-century panelled calf; double blind fillet border; single panel of triple blind fillets, with blind cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern on board edges; blind-tooled spine, with gilt title label and nineteenth-century gilt ram's head crest stamp [i.e. a Legh family book]. Printed waste as pastedowns.
