Provenance: Early nineteenth-century anonymous armorial bookplate: arms of Loyd, impaling Foster, probably Edward Loyd of Lillesden, Kent (1820-1890) who in 1846 married Caroline Louisa Foster, of Sale Priory, Cheshire. Note: First (blank) leaf inscribed in pencil “3 vols” plus book seller’s note. Binding: Vol. 1 has binder’s ticket on back of front endpaper: “Bound by C. Kalthoeber, London”.
