Summary
Ornately decorated Indian festival decoration, in three separate sections. The top section appears to be made of plant stems or rushes, fashioned into a round piece and bowed. They are covered with alternating spirals of red and black, with gold beaded embroidery using sequins and braid. Suspended at either end are maroon tassels, a ceramic cone and decorative disc. Attached to the end of the cone are top-shaped pompoms. The elongated sections sections have vertical red lines with gold and silver beaded embroidery, and strings of pearls between. Gold ribbon covers the back. It is in very delicate condition. Overall colour is red and gold.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
