Summary
Ornately decorated Indian festival decoration, in three separate sections. The top section appears to be made of plant stems or rushes, fashioned into a round piece and bowed. They are covered in purple velvet with a painted gold design. Suspended at either end is a bell-shaped pompom, and a disc, that also appear at the bottom. All three pompoms are present, made as paper tissue flowers in pink and purple with a gold tinsel centre. The elongated side sections are covered in pink and green vertical strips with gold and silver beadwork. There is a wooden skewer sticking out of the right section near to the base. The backs are gold sprayed paper. Very delicate condition. Overall colours pink, gold and green.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
