Each plant's name is inscribed in manuscript in Latin and English (latter possibly copy-specific). Provenance: Nineteenth-century large Harpur, Crewe, Lovell and [unidentified] armorial bookplate, with inscription: Calke Abbey Library [i.e. Sir John Harpur Crewe, 9th Baronet (1824-1886), m. 1845 Georgiana Stanhope Lovell (1824-1910)]. Binding: eighteenth-century cardboard slipcase, covered in red/purple and metallic silver paper.
