Anonymous Carolian armorial bookplate (Franks 10088) on verso of second front fly-leaf facing title page; mid-seventeenth century, of the Eynes, Haynes or Heynes family of Stretton, Shropshire: Argent, on a fess azure, between three demi-greyhounds courant sable couped and collared, three bezants; encompassed by two broad curly acanthus-like sprays tied under base by knots of ribbons. Manuscript code letter on rear fly-leaf: "C" (underlined). Binding: seventeenth-century full sprinkled calf; double blind fillet border; double and single blind fillet panel with blind cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern on board edges; blind-tooling on spine. Blue sprinkled edges. Manuscript number on fore-edge: "11".
