Armorial bookplate (small) on title page verso: John Lord Sommers Baron of Evesham [i.e. John, Lord Somers (1651-1716), Lord Chancellor]. Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Armorial binding stamp: three bunches of grapes and chevron, with coronet and greyhounds supporters [probably Charles-FranÎois Olier, marquis de Nointel, d. 1685]. Binding: Mottled calf; sewn onto six raised bands; gold-tooled spine and board edges; spine label, gold-lettered: "Wormia Histor Rerum Rarior"; marbled endpapers; red sprinkled edges.
