Provenance: seventeenth-century armorial bookplate on front pastedown: argent, a chevron sable, between three roses gules, with helm and mantling, lettered '.L. E. Bigot.' [i.e. Louis Emery Bigot (1626-1689), of Rouen, literary scholar and bibliophile. The Bigot family library was sold in Paris in 1706] and engraver's monogram 'BD f'. Manuscript capital letter on front fly-leaf: "A". Manuscript codes (scribbled over) on front pastedown. Manuscript prices on rear pastedown: "Prit. 5tt" [i.e. 5 livres tournois] and "1-11". Binding: seventeenth-century full mottled calf; sewn onto six sewing supports; double gilt fillet border; six raised bands; gold-tooled spine, with stamp, fillet and roll decoration; gilt title 'Worm Hist.' lettered directly onto spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
