Provenance: nineteenth century armorial bookplate with inscription "John Harward" and motto "Onward & upward" on front pastedown. Provenance: nineteenth century printed book label reading "Melle. A. Petit", i.e. Amélina Petit de Billier, 1798-1876, governess/companion and close friend of the Talbot family, on front pastedown. Binding: nineteenth century gilt tooled sprinkled calf; gilt tooling on edges of boards and turn-ins; gilt tooling and title label reading "Gilpin's River Wye" on spine; marbled end-papers; both boards detached.
