Binding: nineteenth century publisher's binding in purple cloth over boards with bevelled edges; embossed architectural design on both boards; on upper board, design is partly embossed in gilt, on lower board it is entirely blind embossed; gilt tooled title "Architecture &c. in Normandy" on upper board; gilt tooled title "Normandy its architecture and history F. G. Stephens" on spine; text block edges gilded; upper and lower boards both detached.
