Provenance: manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]; with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "ιε'." [i.e. iota epsilon' = Greek number 15]. Manuscript inscription at head of title page: "Nathan Wright of Englefeild [sic]" [probably the Reverend Nathan Wright (d. 1721?), who married Lady Anne Powlett of Englefield House in Berkshire. Wrighte was the third son of Sir Nathan Wright (1654-1721), Lord Keeper of the Great Seal]. Binding: eighteenth-century blind-panelled calf; sewn on five raised bands; double blind fillet border, double and single blind fillet and blind roll pattern panel with blind cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine; gilt title on brown goatskin label on spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
