Seventeenth-century manuscript inscription on back pastedown: Andover. Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Seventeenth-century sprinkled calf over boards, gilt spine tooling, double blind fillet and cornerpieces on covers, red and blue sprinkled edges. Leather dessicated and has come away in places. Spine label missing.
