Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Seventeenth-century blue goat over boards, gilt tooling on spine, covers, board edges and inners, gilt edges. Rectangular compartment style tooling on covers includes acorn cornerpieces and blind foliage tools. Covers warped due to previous water damage; endleaves slightly water stained.
