Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: Stanmer Park. H. [i.e. Hodgson's] 28/4 50 Lot 331 [Stanmer House, Brighton, seat of the Earls of Chichester]. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf over boards; gilt fillets; spine gilt; brown leather spine label with title: 'Memoirs of Exeter'; sewn on five raised bands.
