Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate: Thomas Papillon, Esq. [Franks 22667 is the plate of a Thomas Papillon (fl. 1825) but this looks later.] Nineteenth-century book label of the type found in other Papillon / Crowhurst books, with stamped / manuscript pressmark Di. E. S.7.N.10. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: Crowhurst Park 12/3 '42 [Crowhurst Park, Battle, East Sussex, home of Papillon family]. Binding: Eighteenth-century panelled calf over boards; brown leather spine label, partly torn away; sewn on five raised bands.
