Provenance: Inscription on pastedown: "Ex libris Tho: Frewen 1726" [Formerly identified as the Sussex physician Thomas Frewen (1704-1791), but, given subject of book, seems more likely to be Thomas Frewen (1687-1738) lawyer of Lincoln's Inn, whose bookplate appears in another Ham book (B.1.1)]. Affixed to pastedown: bookseller's catalogue entry describing book. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: Howes 19/12 46 Đ1-15. Binding: Eighteenth-century panelled calf over boards; brown leather spine label with title 'Somner on gavelkind'; sewn on five raised bands.
