Provenance: Inscription on recto of frontispiece: 'Elizabeth Peters is my name and England is my nation hatley Cockayne [sic] is my Dwelling Place and Christ is my Salvation' [i.e. presumably a member of the household of John or Samuel Cockayne - Cockayne Hatley estates devised to Savile Cust 1745]. Bookplates: The Right Honourable Brownlow Baron Brownlow of Belton (armorial; on title page verso); Belton House (earl's coronet & crests; on end pastedown). Binding: Eighteenth-century sheep (very worn, front board lacking). Spine gilt, with spine-label: 'Bp. Taylor's Contemplation'. In conservation tissue.
