Pall Mall: 'Recte et Suaviter' [state with signature barely printed and illegible]. - Inscription on half-title v.1 and t.p. vol. 2: 'Lady Scarsdale 1787' [i.e. Caroline, wife of 1st Baron, (1733-1812)]. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf, marbled endpapers, edges sprinkled red, recessed cords, gilt-lettered on red spine label 'Village of Martindale'.
