Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754; also found in Wimpole books acquired by his successors]. Slip pasted onto verso of third front fly-leaf, with manuscript inscription: "A Monsieur Monsieur Huguens pour Monsieur de Zuilchom son pere dont le nom est marqué en la page 417. Par son tres humble seruiteur l'Abbé de Villeloin le 8. de decembre 1678" [i.e. the author Michel de Marolles (1600-1681)]. manuscript inscription beneath pasted-on slip: "Constanter 1679". Inscription on slip refers to p. 417, where there's a printed entry for "Constanter Huguens de Zuilchom, excellent personage de Hollande, ...".. Binding: Eighteenth-century[?] plain vellum binding; manuscript spine title: "defenses etc de l'Abb: de Villeloin 453.4".
