Alumni Cantabrigienses]. From the library of Dr Samuel Johnson (1709-1784). Ink inscription on front fly-leaf: "Fuit e libris cl. Sam. Johnson. WW. 1785" [written by William Windham III (1750-1810), who was a close friend of Johnson and who bought a number of Johnson's books at the sale of his library in 1785]. Manuscript price in ink written over pencil price on front fly-leaf: "s-d6-". Old Felbrigg shelfmarks in pencil: Q5 (crossed-out), P6. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf (rubbed); sewn on five supports; double gilt fillet border; gilt roll pattern on board edges; remnants of leather title label and lozenge-shaped paper label on spine; red sprinkled textblock edges.
