Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754; also found in Wimpole books acquired by his successors]. Manuscript inscription on rear endpaper stub: "Vindiciae ministerij Evangelicij Londinenses, Tiss[?] divinum for Presbiterian Gibson".. Binding: Seventeenth-century single blind-panelled calf binding; blind dotted roll on board edges; two holes for pair of ties (missing) in each board. Recessed cords. Gold-tooled spine (fillets and stamp), with red gilt title label.
