[152] leaves ; fol. Running number: 6970. Leaf [pi]1 torn, mounted on blank leaf. A few worm holes through leaves F4-M6. Leaf M6 torn on outer-edge. Eleven-line illuminated initial 'V' on leaf a1r supplied in light blue paint on gold ground with dotted patterns within painted frame, each side of frame divided into light blue and dark red, with pen flourishes in red ink emanating from small gold circles. Eight-line initial on leaf a1v supplied in pencil outline. All other initial left blank. Without rubrication. Provenance: library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf; sewn on six supports; double gilt fillet border; gilt roll on board edges; gold-tooled spine, with brown leather title label 'Blondi Roma instaura'; burnished bookblock edges; comb and swirl pattern marbled endpapers.
