[214] leaves ; fol. Running number: 6968. Imperfect: bifolium [pi] and blank leaf a1 wanting. Worm holes in margins through a2 and a3. Nine-line initial "Q" on a2r supplied in purple and silver (oxidised to grey) on dark blue square ground within black outline decorated with a symmetrical intertwined floral and stem pattern in reserved white with blue and red shading on red (partly oxidised to grey) background. Unidentified painted armorial device in lower margin of a2r: party per fess gules and argent, in chief initial "A" or monogram "AM", escutcheon with scrolls in reserved white with pink shading on blue ground within decorative penwork reserved white border with shading and outlined in blue. Nine-line initial "C" on a4r supplied in purple and silver (oxidised to grey) on hatched light blue square ground within black outline decorated with a symmetrical intertwined floral and stem pattern in reserved white with green, pink and purple shading. Other initial spaces left blank. With manuscript marginal annotations written in a sixteenth-century hand in brown ink on a7r-h6r, m3v-m4r and p5r; in other, later hand in black ink on s8 and t4r-u3r. Manuscript pagination supplied on recto of leaves only. Provenance: unidentified painted armorial device in lower margin of a2r: per fess argent in base, gules in chief initial "A" or monogram "AM". Library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Manuscript initial on third front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys]; with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "Β½." [i.e. Beta½ = Greek number 2½]. Manuscript inscription in an unidentified hand on third front fly-leaf: "Naples Ap: 25 1726. 4 ducats - 15s 4d". Binding: nineteenth-century plain parchment over boards; rebacked in higher grade parchment, with gilt title on green morocco label: 'Josephus De bello Judaico. 1480'; nineteenth-century endpapers.
