Provenance: Loosely inserted: eighteenth-century manuscript notes transcribed from book ([4]p.) Remains of nineteenth-century (?) bookplate, mostly torn away, but probably the same bookplate as in Ham A.3.15, the armorial binding of which matches this one. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: Howes [Bookshop] 23.10.62 Đ5.10.0. Loosely inserted: clipping from Howes catalogue.. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf over boards; gilt fillets; gilt armorial stamp on both covers with earl's coronet and motto of the Order of the Garter: "Honi soit qui mal y pense"; spine gilt; red morocco spine label with title "Whitelock's Memorials"; sewn on six raised bands.
