Manuscript initial "M." on recto of front endleaf [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Ellys], continued "2. Tom. 8 Fasciculi. 4 vol." with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf "η¹" [i.e. eta¹ = Greek number 8¹]. Binding: eighteenth-century quarter bound marbled paper over boards and sheep leather spine; four raised bands with gilt framed title and volume number tooled directly on spine; no endbands; two supports laced in; pastedown and endleaf; uncut edges.
