Provenance: Armorial bookplate: Mary Lay Hervey [i.e. Mary Lepel, Lady Hervey (1696-1768)]. manuscript inscription on title page: "M: Hervey" [i.e. Mary Lepel, Lady Hervey (1696-1768)]. manuscript inscription on leaf of binder's waste at front: "Mr: Burnum".. Binding: Seventeenth-century calf binding; triple blind fillet border. Rebacked and repaired in calf; gold-tooled spine, with gilt title and date stamped on spine. Leaves of printed binder's waste at front and back: one leaf of Richard Boothby's 'A breife discovery or description of the most famous island of Madagascar' (London, 1646) (ESTC r200937, Wing B3743), and one leaf of an unidentified sermon in black letter (running title 'The II. part of the sermon of the place, and time of prayer').

Part of the Bristol Collection. The house and contents were acquired through the National Land Fund and transferred to the National Trust in 1956
