Provenance: Jacobean bookpile armorial bookplate (Franks 17002): 'W: H: De Burgo St: Petri. M,D,CCXX,' [i.e. White Kennett (1660-1728), Bishop of Peterborough]. Manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Lengthy manuscript inscription in seventeenth or eighteenth-century hand on front fly-leaf: "Nicolaus Heinsius Notis ad primum tomum Ovidii pag. 375 et seq. editionis Amstel. 1661. Sarravius, cum Salmasii moris malignitatem satis haberet perspectam, ut de ea moribundus etiam sit conquestus, tam serviliter tamen ei obsecutus atque adulatus, est in epistolis, ..." [with another 20 lines of text]. Manuscript inscriptions at foot of title page: "P Colomesius" [i.e. Paul Colomiès (1638-1692), French Huguenot librarian and scholar], "G. Wottonius ex musaeo P.
