Charles Yorke [i.e. Charles Yorke (1722-1770, younger brother of the 2nd Earl of Hardwicke; Lord Chancellor, 1770]. Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754) underneath that of Charles Yorke: Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Seventeenth-century sprinkled calf over boards, double blind fillet and tulip cornerpieces on covers, remains of gilt tooling on board, edges, red and brown sprinkled edges, spine label removed (lost?) and replace with a gilt "I".
