Provenance: manuscript code on front pastedown. Manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Manuscript inscriptions on both sides of folded half fly-leaf at rear: "14 Novembr [sic] 83 I promise to allow for this boo [sic] upon ye return -0-1-4 William Atkinson" and "William Druther [? name scribbled over] 2s 10d". Binding: seventeenth-century full calf; sewn onto four sewing supports; covers have a double blind fillet border and a panel of double and single blind fillets with blind floral cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges; blind-tooled spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
