Provenance: eighteenth-century Jacobean armorial bookplate (Franks 32206), lettered: William Windham Esquire [i.e. either William Windham II (1717-1761) or William Windham III (1750-1810)]. Manuscript former shelfmark in pencil on rear fly-leaf: "aa1". Binding: eighteenth-century full reversed calf; sewn onto five sewing supports; elaborate blind-tooled border, consisting of a double fillet between two roll different roll patterns and with cornerpiece stamps; blind roll pattern along turn-ins; gilt title on burgundy goatskin label on spine; remnants of paper label with manuscript shelfmark at head of spine. Red edges on textblock. Comb- and swirl-marbled endpapers.
