Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Seventeenth-century sprinkled calf over boards, on four raised cords, single gilt fillet and small floral tool on plain spine panels added over original spine, blind double fillet and spine border roll on covers, gilt roll on board edges, red and brown sprinkled edges.
