Provenance: manuscript initial and inscription on front fly-leaf: "M. 6. Plates" [i.e. catalogue code and count of plates, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: eighteenth-century original blue/grey paper (with silverfish damage) over pasteboards; sprinkled calf spine; sewn onto six supports; gilt author and title lettered directly onto spine. Red sprinkled textblock edges.
