Given to my dear son [ie Henry Ramey Upcher, 1810-1892] with a fervent prayer that he may imbibe the spirit of the subject of this memoir" and "C.U." [ie probably Hon. Charlotte Wilson, d.1857]. Listed in the Study in c1900 manuscript catalogue. Binding: Nineteenth century half calf binding with brown marbled paper boards.
