Loosely inserted: clipping from Sotheby's catalogue, unrelated to provenance. Provenance: Subscriber's copy?: a Rev. Mr. Biscow' appears in subscribers' list (p. xxii): cf. bookplate. Eighteenth-century Jacobean armorial bookplate: Elisha Biscoe of the Inner Temple (Franks 2623) [i.e. Elisha Biscoe (1705-1776) of Heston Hounslow, Middlesex]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: East Sutton Park 27/6 45 Lot 763. [East Sutton Park, Kent, seat of baronets of Filmer]. With a pencil note in Norris's hand: "? Lacks portrait'. Similar note by Norris on a loosely inserted slip of his typed and manuscript notes, with added note that this portrait is also missing from the Sotheby's copy.. Binding: Eighteenth-century full mottled calf over boards; gilt fillets; brown leather spine label with title 'Duck's Poems'; sewn on five raised bands.
